FLOOD DAMAGE CAUSES WRECK AT BRIDGE

MAY 23, 2026 - BARRY Co, MO

Just before midnight, a washed-out road caused significant damage to a truck attempting to travel over a bridge on Farm Road 1012 in Barry County. The creek that runs a half mile North of Camp Barnabas had flooded from nearly five inches of rain earlier in the day causing much of the road on either side of the bridge to wash out, however the water had fully receded prior to the accident.

A single occupant with injuries was reported to Barry County Dispatch but upon arrival no patient was located. Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance District personnel along with Monett Rural Fire district searched the immediate area for the driver without success. A Dodge Dakota was left, high centered on the south edge of the bridge with significant damage.

Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the accident report and Thomas Towing & Recovery of Monett recovered the vehicle. The road remained impassible through the night, closed in both directions awaiting repairs from the county road department.
