KANSAS EXPRESSWAY CLOSED FOR FIERY CRASH

JUNE 1, 2024 - SPRINGFIELD, MO

Northbound Kansas Expressway was closed after a fiery single vehicle crash at W. Turner Street.

Immediately after the accident, two bystanders jumped into action pulling the single occupant from the wreckage moments before smoke turned into flames.

Springfield Fire had the vehicle extinguished within five minutes of the call being dispatched and Mercy EMS assessed the patient for what initially appeared to be minor injuries prior to transporting non-emergent to a local hospital.

Police quickly investigated the site and opened the Northbound lanes to traffic in about an hour.
