US-60 CRASH LEAVES 2 IN CRITICAL CONDITION

DECEMBER 16, 2024 - MONETT, MO

At approximately 9:30PM vehicle rolled and caught fire on Highway 60 just West of the city limit. Fire, rescue and law enforcement arrived on scene to find a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette C8 on fire with two people trapped inside.

Chief Pennington, Monett Rural Fire District, reported that bystanders successfully removed the passenger. Followed by fire and police personnel extricating the driver while the vehicle was still on fire.

Both patients were transported to a Springfield hospital in serious condition and the crash is being investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol.

In all, 11 firefighters, 4 medics, 2 police officers & 2 state troopers assisted in the incident. US-60 was closed in both directions for a short time while Thomas Towing recovered the vehicle from the ditch. and the highway was fully re-opened just after 11:00pm.
