ACCIDENT LEAVES 1 IN CRITICAL CONDITION

AUGUST 2, 2024 - Springfield, MO

Multiple witnesses called 911 just after 8 p.m. tonight after a 2007 Honda Element rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels. The impact knocked down power lines and a chain-link fence leaving the single occupant trapped inside of the wreckage.

The accident occurred in the 4600 block of Mt Vernon on the West side of Springfield. Truck 8, Engine 13, Rescue 1, Mercy Ambulance and Springfield Police all assisted in a lengthy extrication process for the patient who was transported emergent to a local hospital.

Witnesses on scene stated that the vehicle hit a culvert at a high rate of speed inducing the roll. Several bystanders attempted to assist the driver immediately afterwards.

Springfield Police remained on scene for an extended period of time investigating the scene and City Utilities was on site for infrastructure repairs.

Springfield Police have reported this accident has turned fatal.
